National police from both the Parla Police Station and the Judicial Police General Police Station arrested Spanish livestock businessman Victorio, 51, on suspicion of causing the death of at least 50 sheep that he had piled up in a shed. … Agricultural exploitation. The contractor was unlicensed and, according to his testimony, had not seen a veterinarian since February 2025. The suspect was arrested on September 24th. Furthermore, the ABC has learned that this man had already been arrested in 2015 on suspicion of starting a bushfire.

It all started two months ago when a woman walking her dog along the Vereda de Veguillas Trepozuela walked next to the Barazanca farm on the outskirts of the municipality. He saw a pile of dead animals and called 112 anonymously. Police and forest officials went to the scene and conducted an inspection. Of the 220 sheep, 50 were dead. The rest showed “signs of illness,” a person involved in the case said. Some suffered from respiratory illnesses, lameness, mammary infections, and hoof abnormalities.

The farm was located in a warehouse with rusting fences and broken fences, and the land the animals were on was a bed of excrement, all of which had not been disinfected. He fed his sheep on the same ground, but the straw was dark in color. Feathers from dead birds were also found among the food. Victorio was arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty or abandonment resulting in death.

The businessman remains facing charges but was released after appearing before a judge. Local police officers and animal protection technicians from the Madrid Ministry of Environment, Agriculture and the Interior also took part in the operation.

All animals, both dead and surviving, were removed from the farm and taken to a facility for treatment by veterinary experts.
