Born in Puente Genil (Córdoba) in 1932, he was a precocious artist endowed with a powerful voice and an outstanding sensitivity for the most demanding styles. From an early age he distinguished himself in competitions and festivals, becoming an indispensable name in the national and international flamenco scene.
His fame increased in 1956 when he won five prizes at the National Flamenco Art Contest of Córdoba. This is a historical fact that no one will repeat. Since then, his career has been cemented with memorable recordings and constant presence on the great flamenco stages of Spain and the world.
Award
Among the many awards he has received, the Golden Key of Singing, awarded in 2005, stands out and is one of the highest awards a cantaor can receive. Art Merit Gold Medal and Order of Andalusia.
Throughout his life, Fosforito shared the stage and shared friendships with legendary figures such as: Paco de Lucía, Camarón de la Isla, El Lebrijano, Jose MeneseAnd he served as a teacher for generations, and today he is recognized as an absolute reference.
