Right-wing governors and legislators have suggested that Congress President Hugo Motta (R-PB) hold public hearings and even send a delegation to El Salvador before the House votes on the anti-sectarian PL.
The proposal to travel to the Central American country was proposed by Minas Gerais Governor Romeu Zema (Novo) during a meeting with Motta and other governors in the Chamber of Deputies on Wednesday (December 11) afternoon.

According to reports, the Minas Gerais governor’s idea is for the delegation to leave on Thursday night and stay in El Salvador through the weekend. Despite the ideas floated by Zema at the meeting, no dates have been set for the trip.
Motta and the discussion in the land of Delight
This hearing was proposed by Sosthenes Cavalcante (RJ), the PL leader in the Chamber. He defended the debates in the states of Paraiba and São Paulo in the states of Motta and the project rapporteur Guilherme Delight (PP-SP), respectively.
As revealed in the column, the party leader’s proposal is for the chamber to hold public hearings in five regions of the country to hear from governors, mayors, public safety secretaries, the OAB, universities, law enforcement agencies, and the federal government.
Due to the debate, Sosthenes suggested to Motta that the vote on the PL opposition be postponed until December. However, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry president did not respond to the request and postponed the vote until next Tuesday (11/18).
