Madrid, November 13 (Europe Press) –
The Kremlin said on Thursday that Ukraine “must recognize that sooner or later it will be forced to negotiate” to achieve an end to the war, warning that the longer time passes “we will be negotiating from a worse position” and once again accused Kiev of a lack of progress in the negotiation process.
“The Ukrainian side should know that sooner or later it will be forced to negotiate, but from a much worse position. The Kiev regime’s position is worsening day by day,” Russian presidential spokesman Dimitri Peskov said, as reported by Russian news agency Interfax.
He therefore reiterated that Kiev’s position meant “a formal declaration of the de facto position of no intention of the Ukrainian side to continue contacts and consultations”, which he described as “sad”, before delving into the fact that the Russian authorities would continue with military attacks.
“Since it is impossible to continue talks, we will continue the special military operation (the name of the Russian military’s invasion of Ukraine), making every effort to achieve the goals set by the Supreme Commander,” he said, later asserting that “Russia wants true peace.”
“Russia is open to resolving the Ukraine issue through political and diplomatic means, but given the door closed by the Kiev regime, in the absence of such an opportunity we will continue special military operations and our first priority is to guarantee the security of future generations and fulfill the task before us,” he concluded.
