Madrid November 13 (Europe Press) –
The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and Islamic Jihad announced this Thursday that they had found the remains of another Israeli kidnapped in the October 7, 2023 attack and would hand them over to Israel that day through the mediation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
Therefore, in a short joint statement, they indicated that the body of this person, whose identity has not been disclosed, is located in the north (south) of the city of Khan Yunis, adding that it will then be handed over at 8 p.m. (local time) The Palestinian newspaper “Filastin” reported this.
The agreement between Israel and Hamas included a ceasefire that went into effect on October 10, and included the release of 20 hostages who were still alive after being kidnapped on October 7 (according to Israeli authorities, about 1,200 people died and about 250 were kidnapped) and the handover of the bodies of 28 deceased hostages. So far, the remains of 23 people have been handed over.
Meanwhile, the Israeli government released approximately 2,000 Palestinians held in prison and handed over 315 bodies in line with the aforementioned agreement, amid accusations of ceasefire violations, including the continued closure of the Rafah crossing on the border with Egypt for the passage of humanitarian aid.
Hamas-controlled Gaza authorities report that the attack prompted Israeli forces to launch a bloody offensive against Gaza that has killed more than 69,180 people and injured more than 170,700, with fears the number could be much higher as bodies continue to be discovered in areas where Israeli forces have retreated.
