“The vacancies are open. We just keep working and each one is doing his best in his respective club to get the position. Several players have come to the position. Mister may have one or two there, he may take the third. I think I will go to Europe very quickly I learned a lot and I think the same way. Returning to Brazilian football is not a step back. Sometimes you have to take a step back to take two steps forward. He came back to win the title, and I want to win it too.Coach Vitor Roque said this at a press conference on Thursday the 13th.
After impressing with Athletico-PR, the center forward was sold to Barcelona in January 2023. However, he did not have many opportunities to play in the Catalan team and was eventually loaned to Betis. Unable to stand out, he signed with Palmeiras at the beginning of the season.
20-year-old Vitor Roque has taken some time to start his career at Palmeiras, but he is having a great time at the club. He has 16 goals and five assists in the past 21 games. A total of 20 balls went into the net in 52 games.
“When I came back from Europe, I was not mentally well and I came back without confidence. When I was in Palmeiras without confidence, Professor Abel Ferreira believed in me. Vitor Roque talks about the STJD trial
The athlete also spoke about the Sports Judicial High Court (STJD) court case in which he is involved. He came under fire for his social media posts after Palmeiras won the Brazilian Championship Classic against São Paulo in Morumbis on October 5.
Vitor Roque published a photo of the tiger, his nickname, hunting a deer (an animal associated with the tricolor with homophobic undertones). The accusation was made under Article 243-G of the Brazilian Sports Justice Code (CBJD), which deals with discriminatory practices. If found guilty, in addition to paying a fine, he could be suspended for between five and 10 games.
The trial will be held next Monday, the 17th.
“My heart is at peace. I don’t think I know the reason for the suspension. A lot of people have said that an educational conversation is helpful, but I also wanted to say that it’s not homophobic. It was just a joke that I posted with no malice, but they took it the other way. I’m sorry to those who feel that way. Palmeiras’ lawyers are working and I want to help the club in the best way I can.”commented Vitor Roque.
