The field at Vasco Stadium is undergoing renovations. The previous lawn has already been removed and a new lawn will be planted this Friday
San Januario’s lawn has been completely removed. From Vasco’s next game at the stadium, the field was free of stains caused by the grass mutation. This depigmentation did not affect gameplay, but it bothered everyone at Cruz Martino, from the board of directors to the fans.
With this change, San Januario’s field will have the same grass as the five stadiums used for the 2014 World Cup. The grass is harvested in Saquarema, in the Lagos region of Rio de Janeiro, and transported in rolls 15 meters long and 1.20 meters wide. )
This lawn is a Bermuda Celebration type and will be planted this Friday (14th). There is one week left until Vasco’s match against Internacional on the 28th of this month, and it is expected that the pitch will be ready by the 20th.
