Napa went from performing in a small cave on Madeira to filling theaters and festivals. All over Portugal. Have you played in Madrid before? What will this concert at Las Ventas be like? Will there be guest artists?
We have never played in Madrid and it is our first time so we are very excited. This will be a concert without guests, but I think there will be many surprises for those who see it for the first time.
What interests you most about Spanish music? Is there a name in particular?
We like C. Tangana and Rosalia.
What was your first step into music?
We formed the band in Madeira in 2013 and moved to Lisbon in 2014. Since then, we have published two albums, held concerts throughout Portugal and participated in Eurovision 2025.
What is the music scene like in Portugal in general and Madeira in particular?
There is something to suit every taste, and more and more artists from Madeira are establishing themselves among mainland Portuguese artists. Van Zee in particular is a great Madeira artist with whom we are already collaborating.
Do you feel a little “out of place” in today’s music industry, since you primarily play an instrument in the digital age?
Since the success of “Deslocado”, we have felt less and less of the “deslocado” feeling as our music has reached not only indie music fans, but many people in different places.
Are you comfortable in the world of TikTok? Is it something you enjoy or something you have to do for work?
Yes, we like to share our posts organically and the public also resonates with us. Since the success of “Deslocado” on TikTok, it makes more and more sense to invest in this social network. This social network has been very helpful in reaching people all over the world.
What was the process behind deciding to participate in Eurovision?
First, we were invited to Festival da Canção in Portugal and won. It was an honor to be chosen to represent Portugal at Eurovision.
How would you rate your results in the contest? Which was your favorite?
Our music and message reached people all over the world. That’s the best outcome we could have hoped for. Our favorites were Ukraine, Lithuania and Italy.
What were the first few days after the contest like?
We received many messages and support from all over the world. We started releasing new music and preparing for a concert tour.
What project are you thinking about now?
Our new single “Amor de Novo” is released this week in collaboration with the Brazilian band Jovem Dionisio. These are some of the opportunities that have arisen thanks to our international success. We will soon begin recording our third album, which will be released next year, and we are very excited to be working with new people to bring a new sound to this work.
