Jakarta (ANTARA) – In an effort to strengthen company management, PT. Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (GIAA) introduces two new figures from abroad to its board of directors.
Based on the results of the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGMS) on 15 October 2025, the foreign director, namely Balagopal Kunduvara, was appointed as Director of Finance and Risk Management and Neil Raymond Mills held the position of Director of Transformation.
For all the details, below are the profiles and experiences of the two new expatriate directors of Garuda Indonesia.

Balagopak Kunduvara Profile
Balagopal Kunduvara is known to be an active figure in the world of finance and services within the aviation group. Most recently, Balagopal served as Divisional Vice President, Financial Services at Singapore Airlines (SIA) from 2021-2025.
According to his LinkedIn profile, he is based in Singapore and has extensive networks in the aviation and financial industries.
His career at SIA spanned 25 years and included several strategic positions in the management and financial planning units.
In his education, he completed a dual Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2012-2013.
Previously, he studied Finance (DGIF) at the University of London in 2008-2009 and MS in High Performance Computing and Engineering Systems (HPCES) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1999-2000.
His undergraduate education was obtained from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, with a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from 1995-1999.
Balagopal also studied secondary education at Hari Sri Vidya Nidhi School between 1991 and 1995.

Profile of Neil Raymond Mills
Neil Raymond Mills is a veteran figure in the aviation industry with experience on every continent from Europe, India, South East Asia and Africa.
His LinkedIn profile states that he holds the positions of Aviation Consultant at NM Aviation Limited (2022-2025) and Chief Procurement Officer & Head of Transformation at Scandinavian Airlines (2024-2025).
He subsequently also served as President and COO of Green Africa Airways (2019-2021), CEO of SpiceJet (2010-2013), Chief Strategy & Planning Officer (CSPO) at Air Berlin (2016-2018) and Chief Executive Advisor (CEA) at Philippine Airlines (2013-2014).
Mills has more than 25 years of experience in the aviation industry, including more than 15 years in executive-level positions at multiple airlines.
With Balagopal’s long-standing experience in Asian airline finance and Mills’ experience managing cross-border business transformations, they will hopefully make a solid fit for Garuda.
The effort to appoint these two expatriate directors also represents an important impetus for Garuda Indonesia to reaffirm its position as a strong and globally competitive national airline.
