The color red symbolizes courage, determination and energy to bring about positive change, as well as representing the identity of the Indonesian nation.
Meanwhile, the color blue symbolizes optimism, sincerity and strong commitment to continue the fight towards a golden Indonesia in the future.
The commemoration of Heroes’ Day every November 10 has its roots in the 1945 Battle of Surabaya, which was one of the largest battles in the history of the Indonesian national revolution.
This battle marked the great resistance of the Indonesian people to the British troops, as well as being the first battle after the proclamation of independence on 17 August 1945.
Until, in the end, the spirit of struggle and sacrifice of the Surabaya fighters was remembered as a symbol of the nation’s courage and patriotism.
