Students and parents at several schools in the city reported that after paying rent for a room for a “pre-promotion” party, they were informed that it was not allowed, continuing the charges against the bowling alley known as “El Limite” at 122nd and 58th Streets at the end of this issue. The dispute erupted on Wednesday after the venue’s owners suspended the party 48 hours before the celebration, citing alleged electrical damage on the premises.
Last night, the parents gathered again in front of the bowling alley and demanded 12 million pesos for the contract they signed in May. In this connection, the mother of one of the students confirmed to this newspaper that she will now proceed with criminal charges.
Complaints about the deception have been received by families at 10 schools across the city, and 11 schools are also taking note, as they plan to hold “pre-promotional” parties on Tuesday, November 25, to celebrate courses scheduled to graduate in 2026. “The same thing will happen to them as there is no permit on the premises,” said the student’s father.
As this newspaper reported, the city of Beriso confirmed that the venue was handicapped, so a case is pending in Misdemeanor Court No. 2. Against this background, families decided to hold entertainment in alternative spaces so that children would not be left without celebrations and protests.
Plaza Moreno was one of the gathering spots, where groups of students gathered with their families with portable speakers and lights. Celebrations were also held at private barbecues, neighborhood clubs and community halls, all of whom came together to offer to welcome them. One of the affected students commented: “There’s no reason not to have a party. No matter what, we set the party anyway.”
The boys said the room (music, atmosphere and basic services were included in the deal) stopped responding to messages, and a party scheduled for this week was canceled at the last minute. This situation led to collective complaints of several courses warning of maneuvers to recover part of the funds given.
Regarding this, her mother, Leila, explained: “The owner of the hall reported that it was defective. When we contacted them, they told us that the place was unusable and that we should either give them another space or spend more money and hold the party somewhere else.Then they settled it by offering us a place in Tropi, just past Beliso.It’s a terrible place and has nothing to do with what we fixed.”
