As in the case of Shein, the French government has accused five out of six other online platforms (AliExpress, Joom, eBay, Temu and Wish) of selling illegal products, Commerce Minister Serge Papin announced this Friday (14 November 2025) in Le Parisien newspaper.
The French anti-corruption agency (DGCCRF) found that “AliExpress and Joom were also selling child pornography dolls” and that Wish, Temu, AliExpress and eBay were “selling category A weapons such as brass knuckles and machetes,” the minister declared.
Additionally, the sixth platform in question – Wish, Temu and Amazon – “did not respect their obligations to filter” pornographic images so that minors could not view them, he added.
“We have reported to the public prosecutor all platforms that provide illegal content,” Serge Papin explained.
“In Shane’s case, we also asked for a suspension in court,” he recalled. The minister warned that “any platform that sells illegal goods will receive similar treatment.”
In an interview with AFP, eBay said it would continue to “work tirelessly to prevent the sale of prohibited items on its platform” and pledged to “cooperate” with “French regulators in this matter”.
Other platforms contacted by AFP (other than Shein) did not immediately respond.
Last week, the government announced it had identified sales of illegal goods on platforms other than Shein and promised to launch “new proceedings” against them.

Previously, Shane was found to be selling child-like sex dolls and Grade A weapons.
Shein has removed all illegal products from its website and has been spared a trading suspension in France for the time being, but the case against the company remains unresolved.

Shine opened its first brick-and-mortar store in the BHV department store in central Paris on November 5, with other stores planned to open around the country.
However, Frederic Merlin, head of the company that owns BHV, said this Friday that the opening of these stores would be delayed for “a few days or weeks” in order to adjust the “offer” and “pricing policy”.
