The High Court of Justice for Sport (STJD) announced on Friday night, November 14, the postponement of the trial of striker Vitor Roque. The second disciplinary committee’s public hearing scheduled for Monday (11/17) will be held next Wednesday (11/19). Therefore, the postponement takes into account the player’s presence in Data FIFA. Prosecutors accused the assailants of discrimination under Article 243G after they published homophobic publications (a tiger bites a deer) after the victory over São Paulo.
The postponement will give Palmeiras more time to act behind the scenes. In the end, the club is trying to avoid court. As previously reported, Palmeiras is trying to reach a “disciplinary deal” agreement with the STJD prosecutor’s office. The strategy is aimed at taking the incident off the table and avoiding the risk of a heavy suspension, which could extend to five to 10 games. However, the new date created a complication. The trial session in Rio de Janeiro will take place on the exact same day as the preliminary match against Vitoria, scheduled for 7:30pm in São Paulo.
Vitor Roque comments on the incident
In fact, the striker is currently in the Brazilian team. Manager Carlo Ancelotti called him up for the friendlies against Senegal (tomorrow, November 15) and Tunisia (Tuesday, November 18). During the intensive meeting, Mr. Vitor Roque commented on the incident. The player treated the post as a “joke” and said he published it “without malice.” Furthermore, he proposed another punishment.

Palmeiras is therefore in a race against time. The club will seek to complete the disciplinary action by Wednesday. If STJD accepts the agreement, Attacker will be free to play against Vitoria. If not, the decision will be made by the Second Disciplinary Committee on the day of the match.
