The official opening is scheduled for 10 a.m. and will include the presence of Sabrina Porcher, executive director of the institute, and a talk by Vanessa Santos, founder of Ler e Saber na Comunidade. The program includes lectures, workshops, exhibitions and cultural presentations. Conference themes include mental health, the creative economy, racial identity, and women’s empowerment.
The list of activities focuses on an entrepreneurship fair where Dara showcases products from women in the communities she serves. There will also be photography, art therapy and Afro-Brazilian knitting workshops. The festival will also feature children’s activities, maracatu and jongo presentations, and a photo exhibition “Looks and Their Products”.
The Dara Institute said the initiative is part of the organization’s efforts to strengthen community networks and value women as agents of social change.
— This event celebrates all the strength, creativity, and power of women. We will have a great program of inspiring voices,” says Sabrina.
