The attack angered colleagues and led to a partial suspension of operations on Friday (14th). This category has united to demand justice and demand greater safety for street cleaners who work every day on the streets of the capital.
the argument ended in violence
Witnesses reported that residents demanded that Francisco retrieve the glass left on the sidewalk.
Street sweepers explained that they can only collect waste that is properly packed in bins. A few minutes later, as I got into my truck to retrace my route, I was startled by a brick in the face. Before he was injured, he would still have heard the insult.
Francisco was rescued by his co-workers and taken to the Rio Branco emergency room by company security technicians. He remains hospitalized.
Video taken at the hospital shows the worker with his face covered in bandages, visibly swollen and his shirt covered in blood. “He broke my bones,” he said, still stunned by the violence.
Health status and surgery
Limpebras, which is responsible for collecting the items, said the street sweeper was in stable condition but was waiting for the swelling to subside before undergoing surgery on his jaw.
Because he was hospitalized, he was unable to file a police report. Accordingly, the company registered a crime report in his name.
The resident who threw the brick reportedly asked the family to apologize, but did not provide assistance or turn himself in to authorities.
City Hall denies invasion
Rio Branco City Hall issued a statement classifying the attack as a “criminal, unacceptable and absolutely repudiated act.” City officials stressed that Francisco was following the correct guidelines for irregular punishment and reaffirmed that they do not condone violence against servers or outsourced workers.
“Professionals who look after our cities have the right to carry out their duties with dignity, respect and safety,” the text reads.
