goiania – A domestic worker was arrested on suspicion of stealing more than 360,000 reais from an elderly woman in the municipality of Inhumas, in the capital region of Goiás state. According to information from the Civil Police of Goiás (PCGO), the woman committed the crime using a card issuing machine.
According to the corporation, the suspect worked for the victim for four years and took advantage of the elderly woman’s trust to carry out the theft at a moment of distraction. The crime had been committed since 2022.
The amount was withdrawn from the machine and transferred to an account in the name of the employee and her husband. The two were arrested on the afternoon of last Monday (October 11) at the house where they lived. The couple was released after a custody hearing.

The elderly woman said the thefts began in 2022, but police are still waiting for bank statements to prove the date of the money transfers.
According to police, on the day of the arrest, a 3,000 reais transfer to the suspect’s husband was discovered.
Two mobile phones and two credit card machines were seized. According to the investigation, the total amount misappropriated in the past few years exceeds 363,000 reais.
