Approximately 100,000 Spanish tourists will visit Ecuador in 2024, representing more than 10% of all foreign tourist arrivals in the country, and this data demonstrates the relevance of the Spanish market to Ecuador’s tourism sector. In this connection, the capital of Ecuador has concluded in Madrid a European tour dedicated to the promotion of tourism offers to Spanish agencies and travel companies. As reported by the Quito Tourism Board through a statement, the event to be held on November 14th marks the conclusion of the “Feel the Heart of World Europe 2025” promotion.
According to an article by the Quito Tourism Board, the closing ceremony was held in the Spanish capital along with a “workshop” in which Quito representatives introduced Quito’s main attractions to experts in the tourism field. Among the elements highlighted in the presentation are Quito’s historic center, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as the diverse cultural experiences the city offers, the ecologically important urban nature and the gastronomic proposal that combines Andean tradition with culinary innovation.
The media detailed that the conference will strengthen the international promotion strategy led by the City of Quito, the aim of which is to strengthen the city’s position as a gateway to Quito and as a benchmark for sustainable tourism in Latin America. The historical, cultural and linguistic ties between Spain and Quito occupied a central position in this activity, an aspect aimed at further increasing the interest of Spanish travelers.
The Quito delegation was accompanied by 10 local tour operators: Adventure Journeys, Acangau, Calpe DM Adventures, Colon Explorers, Ecuador Trails, Gulliver Expeditions, Latin Trails, Metropolitan Tourings, Pure Ecuador and Surtrek. According to a communication from the Quito Tourism Board, these local companies presented the participants with the breadth and diversity of Quito’s tourism services and adapted their offers to the tastes and expectations of European citizens.
The promotional itinerary presented by the organization is part of an international campaign by the City of Quito, with the motto “Feel the heart of Europe in 2025”, aiming to attract the attention of new visitors and position the Ecuadorian capital not only as a tourist destination, but also as a model of tourism sustainability. The focus on sustainability responds to a global trend that prioritizes consideration of the natural and cultural environment in new travel habits.
The Quito Tourism Board reported that the European Tour and its closing in Madrid will not only highlight the evolution of gastronomy, but also demonstrate the versatility with which heritage, living culture and nature can be integrated into the urban environment. The group said the historical and cultural ties between the two destinations are essential to fostering stable commercial relations in the tourism sector.
The conclusion of the European promotional campaign in the Spanish capital will also aim to promote direct contacts between operators and agencies of the two countries, creating a space for exchanges that will contribute to the conclusion of agreements and joint projects aimed at sustainable tourism development in the region.
