BYD has discovered the goldmine of plug-in hybrids. Recognizing that the uptake of electric cars in Europe is not progressing at the pace expected and that it is necessary to expand sales on the continent, the already established line of plug-in hybrid cars, DM-i, is considered the best option to expand the customer base.
The latest launch is the BYD Atto 2 DM-i, a plug-in hybrid version of a model that was previously sold only as an electric model. And one of its key qualifications remains the same. That’s more than 1,000 kilometers of autonomy.

Initiatives to expand our customer base
In just over two years, BYD has completely redefined itself, going from launching three flashy electric cars to now having a lineup of nine models. From focusing solely on electric vehicles to a strong presence of plug-in hybrids. From investing in a more luxurious car to choosing to enter the market at a more affordable price.
The BYD Atto 2 DM-i may be one of the products that best represents this trend. The plug-in hybrid version has minimal cosmetic changes. The company mentions several minor changes, including a larger front grille, the elimination of side grilles on the fenders, and a new emblem on the trunk lid. This DM-i version has a special color “Midnight Blue”.
Regarding equipment, the Chinese manufacturer has not disclosed details, but it is expected that there will be few changes. It remains to be seen whether a configuration with a 10-inch rotating central screen will be adopted.
