After making it through the Masters Cup semi-finals with a two-set victory over Felix Auger-Aliassime (6-2, 6-4). Carlos Alcaraz will be reunited in the final with Jannik Sinner playing in the ATP Finals in front of a crowd. After the prelude to the big match, the Murcia native addressed the crowd at Turin’s Inalpi Arena and joked about cheering for him in the title match.
Alcaraz powerfully defeated Canada’s Auger-Aliassime in the semifinals to advance to the tournament’s first final. Not many people will agree with this, as Sinner is fully supported. I wish at least three or four people would encourage me…he said jokingly, eliciting cheers.
“It’s going to be very difficult. I’m very happy to see Jannik in the final again.. We are playing at a very high level and that is good for the fans. I want to maintain my concentration in order to win. “People will be rooting for him, so I hope to stay focused and have a great match,” he added.
Commenting on the victory over the Canadians, he said: “I think I was very solid and very aggressive. I’m proud. I will try not to make too many mistakes and move forward. It was important to serve well, subtract well and gain the confidence I needed. “I’m very happy with the level I’m at heading into the final.”
He also captivated the audience by saying the following in Italian: “I was very happy about today’s match. Thank you again tomorrow.””.
