Who is Sandrao?
Sandra Regina Ruiz has been gaining attention after the start of the Amazon Prime Video series “Tremembé”. While serving time in prison, she became famous nationwide after becoming involved with Suzanne von Richthofen and Elise Matsunaga.
The story of Sandrao’s relationship with Suzanne and Elise is featured in the books Elise Matsunaga: The Woman Who Dismembered Her Husband and Suzanne: Asassina and Manipuladora (Matrix Edition) by Ulisses Campbell.
First, she had an affair with Elise in Tremenbe, then with Suzanne, whom they married in prison.
Crime committed by Sandrao
Sandraon was a poor woman living in the suburbs of Mogi das Cruzes (SP). Together with her boyfriend at the time, Valdir Ferreira Martins, she decided to kidnap the teenager. The plan was for the two to use the young man’s ransom money to visit Fernando de Noronha Island and buy a car.
Fourteen-year-old Talison, the son of Sandra’s neighbor and friend Ana Maria, was chosen as the bandit’s target because his house was the cleanest on the street. Two cars were also kept at the house, which provided further motive for the crime.
The young man was abducted around noon on October 21, 2003 by one of Sandra’s accomplices, known as Formiga. They were imprisoned in a compound where Valdir’s family did not live, and the young man was locked in a suite to avoid contact with the rest of the house and the kidnappers.
The kidnapping continued for three days, with back-and-forth negotiations over the amount of the ransom. The initial demand was for R$40,000, but the amount was reduced when the criminals realized the family could not pay. During that time, Sandra spent much of her time in captivity and soon returned to Talison’s family home to comfort her friend. She simulated several conversations with bandits trying to negotiate a ransom.
The amount collected by the victim was R$4,500, of which R$2,000 was raised through loan sharks and a further R$2,500 with the help of neighbors. This is an initiative proposed by Sandra. The payment was left in a trash can near the Braz Cubas train station on the outskirts of Mogi das Cruzes, which the group quickly managed to pick up.
However, when they returned to captivity, they discovered that Talison had managed to escape from the suite but was unable to leave the house and remained in the living room watching television. He immediately recognized Sandra and her boyfriend, Valdir, and the gang made the decision to kill Sandra.
They decide to take him further away from the city to a place known as Prainha. There they took the young man’s life with a .38 caliber Rossi rifle. The suspect, Formiga, was 17 at the time. The attempt was to not pay anything because he was a minor.
investigation
Through the investigation of this incident, the police identified the culprit for breaching telephone confidentiality. Mr. Formiga eventually confessed to the crime in its entirety and was arrested and punished with socio-educational measures as stipulated by the Children and Youth Act (ECA).
Sandra and Valdir were found guilty of this crime, and she was sentenced to 27 years in prison, but her sentence was eventually reduced to 24 years for not taking part in the boy’s execution, and he was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
