Rui Costa said he would remain in office until the end of President Julio Casares’ term. Board wants renewal with leadership
Sao Paulo soccer executive Rui Costa will remain in his position next season. The director confirmed that negotiations will continue in the portfolio in 2026.
The contract is valid until the end of next year, but Rui Costa’s job has become difficult, mainly due to Sao Paulo’s performances during the season. Meanwhile, the board believes it has done its job well.
After all, according to GE, Tricolor leaders are even planning to renew Rui Costa’s contract. Earlier this week, he confirmed he was speaking out about the matter.
“I am happy in São Paulo. My contract runs until 2026. The managers have asked me to reconsider this contract. I know they trust my work and I trust them,” the executive said in a podcast interview with journalist Chico García and former player Denilson.
Rui Costa arrived in São Paulo in 2021, when President Julio Casares became president of the tricolor. The original contract was valid until 2023, but was renewed until the end of the current president’s term in 2026.
