White House economic adviser Kevin Hassett said in an interview broadcast Sunday that U.S. economic growth could be negative in the fourth quarter if the federal government shutdown drags on.
In an interview with CBS, Hassett noted that a shortage of air traffic controllers is causing significant travel delays ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.
“Thanksgiving is one of the hottest times of the year for the economy, and if people don’t travel during that time, the fourth quarter could be negative,” he said.
