Lando Norris left Interlagos with everything he could dream of: victories, improved leadership in the Championship and a clear message to his opponents. The McLaren driver had one of the best weekends of his career at the São Paulo Grand Prix, commanding the entire session and leaving Brazil with maximum points.

Norris, who crossed the finish line in style, dedicated his victory to former McLaren sporting director Gilles de Ferran, who passed away in 2023. “Winning in Brazil is always special. The energy here is unique,” he said. “This result is for Gil. He’s been a mentor to me and I’m sure he’s very proud. It was a perfect weekend.”

Despite his overwhelming lead, Max Verstappen’s impressive performance, starting from the pits and eventually fighting for second place, served as a warning to Norris. The Briton admitted the Red Bull driver’s climb increased the need to maintain pace and avoid any accommodations.

“I’m very happy with the win, but seeing Max’s speed today shows we can’t relax,” he assessed. “I want to talk to the team and understand what we can still improve on. I’m focused on ignoring the outside noise and continuing to work hard.”

Norris also praised McLaren’s consistent efforts throughout the year. “The team has done a great job. The car is strong and everyone is giving their all. These results are the result of a lot of effort on and off the track.”

The Brazilian stage marked Norris’ seventh win of the season, strengthening his status as a favorite for the title. But every detail could be decisive from now on, and the Brits appear determined to remain aggressive until the final checkered flag.
