On Sunday morning (9/11), a 24-year-old woman was killed by a car on Calle Ede in northern São Paulo. The driver, also 24, fled the scene without providing assistance, but a few minutes later showed signs of intoxication and was arrested at the scene by military police.
Security camera footage showed the moment when the accident vehicle was traveling at high speed and violently collided with the victim. The victim died at the scene before help arrived.
Based on the characteristics provided by witnesses, police located the vehicle and approached the driver shortly after the accident. Investigators said she showed obvious signs of intoxication but refused to take a breathalyzer test.

The driver was taken to the police station and remained in judicial custody. The case was registered at the 73rd Police Precinct for drunk driving, murder, failure to render aid, hit and seizure of property.
