Inter Milan did what you would expect from a team aiming for the Scudetto at home. This Sunday afternoon (09/11) Inter defeated Lazio 2-0 at San Siro thanks to goals from Lautaro Martínez and Bony. The goal took Interista to the top of the table with 24 points, while the team from the Italian capital were in ninth place with 15 points.
The next round after the FIFA data, Inter will play the Madonina derby against Milan on November 23rd, while Lazio will host Lecce at the Rome Olympics on the same day.
Lightning goal at San Siro
The match started and Lazio had little time to try to stop Inter’s initial momentum. Lautaro Martínez put the Nerazzurri ahead at San Siro just two minutes into the match. Bastoni put pressure on Lazio’s ball, won the ball and gave the perfect assist to the Argentine striker, who deftly converted the goalkeeper’s corner kick. 1-0 for Inter.
Inter won’t let Lazio breathe
Despite the advantageous situation, Inter did not hit the brakes. Lautaro Martínez had a chance to score a few minutes later, but his shot went just over Provedel’s goal. Lazio tried to attack but failed. With increased possession, Inter controlled the game until the half-time whistle.
Bonnie finishes the game
Even after returning to the locker room, the atmosphere of the game remained the same. Lautaro had another chance to score, but wasted it and sent it wide. However, the Argentine did not miss his chance. In the 17th minute, Bony took advantage of DiMarco’s perfect cross and slotted it into an empty goal, doubling his team’s advantage in the match and clinching the victory.
Almost the next moment, Zielinski hit a double to score Inter’s third goal at San Siro. However, after checking with VAR, referee Gianluca Manganiello called a foul at the start of play and canceled the move.
Lazio misses a great chance
Near the end of the match, Lazio attempted this goal in the final moments to ignite the match. However, the post sought to thwart a possible reaction from the Italian capital team. Pedro crossed and Mario Gila tested it brilliantly. The ball hit Sommer’s post and bounced over the line, but it didn’t go inside.
Inter maintains lead
With Sunday’s win, Inter Milan remain at the top of Serie A, level with Roma on 24 points, but ahead on goal difference. Meanwhile, Lazio are in 9th place with 15 points.
