Minister of Education Camilo Santana reported this Sunday (11/9) that 3,240 candidates were excluded on the first day of the 2025 National High School Examination (ENEM). Despite this, he said the test was conducted without any major complications, with an abstention rate of 27%, similar to 2024, when 26.6% of those enrolled did not take the test.
Exclusions included possession of electronic devices, early departure from the exam venue, use of printed materials, and violation of inspector instructions.
Manuel Palacios, director of the National Institute for Educational Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep), said that although an arrest was made during the exam, the incident was not directly related to the exam.
Day 1 of Enem 2025
The Enem test was conducted in 1,804 municipalities across the country. The second day of the test will be held next Sunday, November 16th.
On this first day, candidates had 5 hours and 30 minutes to answer 90 objective questions related to the field of languages and human sciences and an essay in Portuguese.
This Sunday’s questions are: Portuguese. literature; foreign languages (English or Spanish); history; geography; philosophy and sociology, art, physical education, information and communication technology.
The theme of this year’s essay was “Perspectives on Aging in Brazilian Society.”
different dates
The three municipalities of Pará state have different exam application schedules. Belém, Ananindeua and Marituba are the exceptions for November 30th and December 7th.
The measure aims to better serve students in these regions, taking into account the logistical impact of the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) to be held in the state during the period when the exam is applicable nationwide.
Another place with different dates is Rio Bonito do Iguacu, a city in Paraná state that was destroyed by a tornado on Friday (7/11). Almost the entire urban structure of the municipality was damaged.
The Ministry of Education (MEC) has not yet set a new exam date for the city, but it is thought that it will be the same as the municipality of Pará state.
