Palmeiras lost 2-1 to Mirasol on Sunday night (9th), with Flamengo, second in the Brazilian Championship, level on points and putting pressure on the Albiverde club in the title race. Both teams have 68 points, but Sao Paulo remains in first place with one more win (21-20).

Mirasol took the lead in the first minute with Gabriel’s goal. Palmeiras tied the score in the 29th minute of the first half with Vitor Roque’s bicycle kick. However, in the 46th minute, João Victor widened Mirasol’s goal.

The club from the interior of São Paulo remain unbeaten at home in the Group of Four, and are in fourth place with 59 points, six points ahead of Bahia (fifth), and close to qualifying for the Copa Libertadores.

Flamengo defeated Santos 3-2 in the previous match at the Maracanã, moving them closer to the top of the title race.

The Rio club dominated the match, with Leo Pereira taking the lead just before the end of the first half, and Carrascal and Bruno Henrique adding to their tally in the second half, but they succumbed to pressure from Santos in the closing stages, allowing Gabriel Bontempo and Lautaro Díaz to score.

Neymar, who came on as a substitute just before Santos’ goal, was booed by Flamengo fans towards the end of the second half and complained to referee Savio Pereira Sampaio, who gave him a yellow card. “The referee is very bad. On top of being bad, he is arrogant,” he said.

Santos remained in 17th place with 33 points, missing the chance to break out of the relegation zone.

Earlier on Sunday afternoon, Corinthians lost 1-0 to Ceará at the Neo Quimica Arena, making it their second straight defeat for the club, who remain in 13th place with 42 points.

Cruzeiro vs. Fluminense drew 0-0 in Mineirão, the same result as the Vitoria vs. Botafogo match in Salvador. Cruzeiro maintains third place in the championship with 64 points.

The championship leader and deputy will return to the field in the postponed match on Saturday (15th). Palmeiras will play Santos at 9pm, while Flamengo will face Sport at 6:30pm.
