The 2025 edition of RUF (Ranking of Universities of Folha) presents 18 works signed by visual arts students from public and private universities whose courses achieved the best results in the region in the previous year’s survey. The drawings accompanying the report were selected through a competition.
The newspaper invited course committees to promote the initiative to students. College students can submit up to five images that answer questions such as what inspires them most about their daily life at college, their favorite place on campus, and how they imagine teaching other courses.
The sheet 48 works received awards. The selection was made by a jury made up of art editors. sheetKléber Bonjoan. By Adriana Matos, Deputy Editor of Art. By Silas Martí, Ilustrada editor. Written by Luciano Veronesi, an illustrator and infographic artist who is also the cartoonist for the Roda Viva program at TV Cultura.
This set includes three paintings by Maria Muniz Fleury, a late visual arts student at USP (University of São Paulo), depicting scenes from Plaza de Relogio and university life.
Luciana Lima, a fourth year student of the Armando Álvarez Penteado Foundation, selected two works: one from Plaza Sol in São Paulo and one from the university’s stained glass windows.
The cover of the print version features an illustration by Thiago Machado, a fourth year student of the Visual Arts degree at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. The digital drawing balances irreverent lines with muted colors.
He said the inspiration came from the UFRGS Open Door event, where the campus welcomes those choosing their degree. “I thought of several different courses and tried to depict them all in some way. I also depicted people with test tubes on the street,” he says.
Selected students were paid for each illustration.
