It was built as a fortress in the X century. It was later transformed into the Guardia Civic Quarter. And soon it will become a 4 star country hotel. The Ministry of the Interior succeeded in selling the castle located in the town of Makeda (Toledo, population 504), colloquially known as “The Castle”. tricorn castle It was declared a Historic Artistic Monument in 1931, but attempts have been made since 2013 to demolish it to make way for a box.

The buyer is the Canary Islands company América de Construcciones y Turismo SL (Amcotur), which, as confirmed by officials from the Ministry of Fernando Grande Marlasca, will pay 3.25 million euros for the purpose of converting the fortress into a hotel facility, and promises to restore and preserve both the ramparts and the existing internal foundations.

The amount paid to the company, which has five other hotels in the Burgundian town of Hormillos de Sasamon, including an enclave inside another castle, is less than the 7.4 million euros the government invested in a day to build a modern building in the courtyard of the arms. Three planted gardens and an attic with a built-up area of 3,060 square meters that houses the archives and permanent museum of the Military Research Institute. It is this modern building that Amkotur intends to use as a hotel. According to details provided by one of the sources, the sale was agreed directly on October 28, without recourse to Svasta, and is expected to be formalized in front of a notary public within the next few days, after the hotel company has paid a total of 162,710 euros. For now, the property remains for sale on the department’s website. This diary attempted to contact the hotel company but was unsuccessful.

The sale of Castillo de Maqueda (also known as Castillo de la Vera) was unfortunate. In 2001, the then government of José María Aznar began renovations to transform the fortress, located in Autovia de Extremadura, 75 kilometers from Madrid, into the headquarters of the historical archives of the Civil Defense Forces. After the PSOE’s victory in the 2004 elections, the plan became even more ambitious. General Carlos Gómez Aluche, the new Director General of the Institute of Armament, established a human body museum in addition to archival storage to house the Institute’s rich historical funds.

However, plans to turn it into an archive and museum were thwarted when it was actually possible to install some panels and display cases inside. The 2008 economic crisis frustrated them, and in July 2013, Executive Secretary Mariano Rajoy included Castillo de Maqueda in the list of 15,135 public real estate properties I put up for sale to raise funds. Since then, he has succeeded in taking new opportunities to remove public sub-bastas through Infrastructure Management and the Equipamiento de la Seguridad del Estado (Guise, dependent on the Ministry of the Interior).

At the beginning of September 2014, Interior wanted to sell the castle and make some money, so I set the sale price at 9.58 million yen, more than 2 million yen more than the renovation costs. An attractive factor was that the plot is used for residential, commercial, public or semi-public use, hotel or entertainment purposes in accordance with local government regulations and is therefore susceptible to conversion into apartments or tourist accommodation. But I didn’t break through the building.

After this initial failure, in the second subseason in October 2015, Interior lowered the sale price to 7.47 million (with an option to lower it to 6.73 million). But I also sold it. It tried again in September 2016 at a much lower price of 5.9 million. Since then, the price has continued to fall at a continuous level, reaching the lowest price in March 2022, when it was bid for €2.76 million. At that time, no one was interested. In August 2023, the price of the interior was increased to 3.25 million. This is how valuable it is to be kept in the last known Svasta of the past. It is for this very important reason that direct sales to hotel groups are now possible, and according to Interior, it is “at a commission price, with no discount to anyone.”

In a telephone conversation with the Diary, Makeda Mayor Andrés Congosto clarified that he had no information about the sale, but acknowledged that in recent months several companies, including several hotels, had been in contact with the council to find out whether the buildings in the coat of arms courtyard could be renovated. Congosto said that in recent years he has been in touch with Minister Fernando Grande Marlasca, President of Castilla-La Mancha Emiliano García Page, and the head of the Secretariat of Democratic Memory to find ways to use memory. If you don’t mind saying, “I’ve always received good words, but a little more.”

“We are always looking for this area to serve as a museum, hotel and convention center to revolutionize tourism and the economy,” he added. His other big request was to be able to visit the inside of the building, which is currently not possible as it is closed. “It’s close to the main road, so a lot of people stop to visit it, only to find out they can’t because it’s closed,” Congost said. This means that this castle is in perfect condition, because if someone were to suffer any damage that was incomplete, the Ministry of the Interior would be tasked with repairing it.

Currently, Gies is selling other buildings, including the ancient residence of the Guardia Civil in Blanes (Girona), for 250,000 euros. Linares (Jaen, 1.3 million euros) and Torres de Foix (Barcelona, 290,000 euros). More than 50,000 euros at the old customs house in Valencia de Alcantara (Cáceres). The building that houses the Calatay Commissaria (Zaragoza, 320,000 euros).
