This Sunday (September 11), Neymar left the field in frustration when he was replaced by Juan Pablo Vojvoda during Santos’ 3-2 loss to Flamengo in the Brazilian Championship. Coach Vojvoda clarified the situation in the post-match press conference. The coach said Santos’ star players were frustrated, but stressed that it was the manager’s decision to make.
Watch an excerpt from Vojvoda’s press conference.
“Neymar was understandably upset, because it would upset other players who I decided needed to be replaced,” Vojvoda began.
“It’s completely normal for him to be upset. But this kind of thing must happen often.always with respect. There was no lack of respect or anything. The respect is there. The players want to play and help during what is a difficult period for the club.” declared Santos.

Neymar complained bitterly about leaving the Maracanã pitch 41 minutes into the second half. He gave way to the Argentine Rolheiser. He didn’t even stay on the bench and watch the end of the game.

“Are you going to take me away?” asked Neymar at the direction of the Santos technical committee during his substitution.
At that point, Santos lost 3×0 to Flamengo. However, after the number 10 left the field, Peixe reacted and the difference on the scoreboard was reduced to 3×2, with Rolheiser directly involved in one of the goals.
Santos is 17th in the Brazilian Championship with 33 points. In the relegation zone, the Sao Paulo team has two points fewer than Vitoria, the first team outside of the Z-4.
