Theobald says the idea came from a desire to take Afro-Brazilian memory beyond the museum. “Terminal Gentileza is at once a place of passage and a place of encounter. Choosing this site means recognizing that history dwells not only in institutions and monuments, but also pulsates in the everyday spaces that thousands of people pass through every day. It means understanding that memory is not the privilege of a few, but the right of all,” says the curator.
