The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine clarified this Monday (10 November 2025) that the Ukrainian army continues to defend the city of Pokrovsk and its satellite municipality Mirnograd, denying information released by Moscow that Russian troops were able to intercept Ukrainian troops in the area or that the invading forces were under fire control of all Kiev army logistics routes.
Russian forces continue to inflict heavy casualties as they attempt to capture Pokrovsk and Mirnograd, located in eastern Donetsk and priority targets for the invading forces at this stage of the war, said Andrei Kovalov, a spokesman for the Ukrainian army’s General Staff. “Ukrainian forces will maintain their positions and defeat the occupation forces approaching the city,” he said.
A Ukrainian military spokesperson acknowledged the difficulties in delivering supplies to the Kyiv forces guarding these squares, but assured that weapons and ammunition were delivered to the Pokrovsk defenders this Sunday, as well as the evacuation of the wounded and the rotation of troops, proving that there is no blockade in the area.
conflict area
Ukraine’s war analysis platform Deep State continues to list large parts of the city of Pokrovsk as a disputed area where fighting is taking place. Meanwhile, a map maintained by the Russian Telegram channel shows that much larger areas were conquered by Russia. Regime leader Vladimir Putin has demanded the surrender of Pokrovsk’s garrison, and capturing it would be Russia’s biggest victory in the past two years of war with Ukraine.
Similarly, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that Russian troops have expelled the garrison of the Ukrainian town of Khnatyvka, located on the outskirts of Pokrovsk, which is currently the most important battleground in the war. The war report states that “units of the Motor Regiment of the 2nd Army liberated the town of Khnatyvka from Ukrainian soldiers.”
