Mr. Fiocruz and Mr. BioMérieux will open the Diagnostic Research and Innovation Center in Jacarepagua (RJ) this Monday (10th).
The French company plans to completely transfer the space to the foundation and begin operations there in March 2026.
The center will house research and development projects for SUS input and diagnostic kits. Fiocruz said the initiative includes capacity expansion, technology updates, process automation and new technology transfer projects.
The agency also says the space will reduce production time and increase national autonomy in diagnosis.
Fiocruz President Mario Moreira said the agreement strengthens the historic partnership between Brazil and France. The center is a “strategic step to expand national capacity for production and innovation in diagnostics” and has a direct impact on the health emergencies we face. The aim, he said, is to provide tools that are “accurate, timely and sustainable” as technology advances.
