“When someone, no matter how powerful or famous, sends unsolicited sexually explicit material to a stranger, it is an abuse of boundaries,” he wrote. However, the relationship between the artists would continue after the episode, as she showed in the photo shared with the publication. A few weeks later, during a work meeting, Zhou reported that Renner became agitated after drinking wine.
“I was so furious that I had to lock myself in the room to stay safe and prayed that he wouldn’t come in at night. I didn’t say anything. I was so scared for my life,” she said. The filmmaker also said that when she confronted him, the actor threatened to report her to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). “It hit me hard and scared me a lot,” he recalled.
Jeremy Renner refutes accusations
Jeremy Renner called Yi Zhou’s accusations “false, fabricated and sensational lies” in a court notice of “cease and desist” against the director. In court, he claimed that the filmmakers overstepped the actor’s personal boundaries after a “consensual meeting” between Disney contractors.
According to the actor, their relationship ended in August this year. However, after their alleged breakup, Renner claims he received “hundreds of explicit messages” from his girlfriend asking them to resume their relationship. Finally, he even accused her of trying to defame him after not agreeing to a romantic relationship.
“She tried to blackmail me to make it seem like we were in a romantic relationship, but that never happened,” the star retorted. The Marvel actor also said the accusations were motivated by his disapproval of Chou-led projects.
