Civilian police are investigating the deaths of two men, a 29-year-old and a 38-year-old man, who drank alcohol at a bar in Cajamar, a major city in Sao Paulo, on the 8th, and two others were hospitalized. The deaths occurred on Sunday.
So far, there is no evidence of methanol poisoning. The investigation is based on the hypothesis of intoxication.
According to Kajamar City Hall, one of the men remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Three bars on Vila Nova Street and Nacentes Street in the Jordannesia neighborhood have closed. According to the investigation, the victims were drinking alcohol at these establishments. The other two spaces were closed as a precautionary measure due to their close radius.
The product was also seized and sent to a crime lab for analysis.
The investigation requested a forensic laboratory to conduct an examination. The case was registered as a suspicious death at Kajamal police station.
