San Januario’s turf, which has been criticized for being dirty throughout the season, will be replaced with new grass. This was announced by Vasco on Monday afternoon. The measure is based on technical guidance from Greenleaf Gramados, the company responsible for maintaining the Colina Historica fields.
The plan is to use the period without matches to proceed with the process in a way that does not affect the plans of Vasco’s men’s professional team. The new pitch should be ready for Cruz-Martino’s next home match against Internacional on November 28th. Previously, the team played against Gremio and Bahia.
The cause of the stains on San Januario’s grass is that the stadium’s pitch was not completely replaced, allowing bacteria to spread. In recent years, only damaged parts have been replaced. However, Vasco chose not to undergo a complete renovation this season because, although it looks ugly, it technically does not interfere with the game.

Following technical guidance from Greenleaf Gramados, Vasco da Gama began the complete resurfacing of San Januario’s lawn this Monday (10/11).
The plan is for the new turf to be prepared for the match against Internacional-RS on November 28th, using the period when there are no matches at the stadium until that date.
The operation is carried out entirely by Greenleaf, the company responsible for the maintenance and management of the San Januario oil field.
