Madrid November 11 (Europe Press) –
The Israeli army announced on Tuesday that it had destroyed several buildings allegedly used by the Shiite militia Hezbollah in a new invasion of the town of Hura in southern Lebanon, despite a cease-fire agreed at the end of November 2024 after nearly 13 months of fighting.
“During the night, troops of the 769th Brigade destroyed several buildings used as terrorist facilities in the town of Hula,” he said, adding that the military had already launched a similar operation in the area a month ago to “neutralize old weapons and explosives stored in these buildings.”
Therefore, in connection with the aforementioned ceasefire, he emphasized that “the existence of these infrastructures constitutes a violation of the agreement between Israel and Lebanon,” and then stressed that “the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will continue to act to eliminate any threats to the territory of the State of Israel.”
Israel has launched dozens of bombing raids against Lebanon despite the ceasefire in November 2024, claiming that it opposes Hezbollah’s activities and thus guarantees not to violate the agreement, although both Beirut and Hezbollah have criticized these actions, and they have also been condemned by the United Nations.
The ceasefire, agreed after months of fighting following the October 7, 2023 attack, contemplated that both Israel and Hezbollah would have to withdraw their troops from southern Lebanon. However, the Israeli army maintains five military posts on the territory of the neighboring country, which has also been criticized by Lebanese authorities and Shiite groups who have called for an end to this presence.
